Bed And Breakfast In Brussels: A Beautiful Discovery To Share

One day, browsing the web to find a comfortable bed and breakfast in Brussels, I found the cottages Homiris (or “Homiris Bed & Breakfast” as they say).

Just by visiting their site simple and efficient, you see that this must be a high quality B & B. And since I had already watched a few other b & b in the same region of Brussels without being convinced, I immediately made a reservation on their website. It’s well organized: you fill a form, you press a button and that’s it… Book is a party. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an answer to my request within the next hour! Basically, it was enough that I pay a deposit via PayPal to my room to be reserved for dates that suit me.

In other words, my accommodation for my stay in Brussels was finally settled in less than 2 hours! Not bad …

But that does not stop there. If you visit the site “Homiris” you will see that in addition to offering rooms, guests (Genevieve and Damien) offer to pick you up at the station or airport. Not only is it very nice to know each other that way (it’s a bit like a family member came to pick you up after a long trip), but more concretely, the race is much less expensive than if we used a taxi.

So I asked a thousand questions to my hostess who came to fetch me with a big smile at the airport, I learned many things about the creation of their Bed and Breakfast in Brussels.

Here is what I selected:

“Homiris” (contraction of the word “home” and the word “iris”-emblem of Brussels) has been operating since September 2009. After a long gestation period of 7 months during which Genevieve and Damien have patiently assembled all the pieces of a unbelievable and refined puzzle. In a typical house of the Twenties in Brussels, along a quiet street, these cottages have indeed need some adjustments before they can fulfill their role of B & B.

All the decoration has been designed in every detail: towels to curtains, through tablecloths and lamps. It has been repainted some walls, arrange the dining room and lounge, find furniture and lamps in a style suitable for the house, and most importantly, develop the rooms.

The rooms are decorated around the two main Belgian painters such as Brueghel and Magritte. Although different, they each have their own charm …

In summer you may perhaps prefer the Breughel room which gives access to a small courtyard beautifully decorated with plants and lovely lamps. The tones of the room are rather “sunny” and warm. The Swedish home furnishings have a style that is perfect for the room.

The room Magritte is a bit larger than the other room, if one excludes the small courtyard. But the atmosphere is less “sunny”, although equally warm. This is the choice of colors less vivid and more sober. This room is also equipped with a little better: the guests will choose to take a bath instead of a shower (by the way: the bathrooms are impeccable!). As for the artistic decoration, two famous paintings of Magritte adorn the walls.

The result is striking harmony, peace and quiet. It’s so quiet and comfortable one day I woke up much later than usual. Fortunately I had no appointment early this morning!

Finally, for the little story, imagine that the idea of creating their cottages came 2 years (in 2007) ago on a boat that took them from island to island on the lake Titicaca, Peru.

Conclusion? Travel! This gives you great ideas that you realize the passion projects that are dear to you …
